Currently the tallest occupied office building in Reston, eighteen-story One Freedom Square was for a long time home to Leidos, one of Reston’s two Fortune 500 companies. Earlier this year the technology company moved its headquarters down the street to Reston Town Center’s newest addition, the 17Fifty building.
Reston Town Center first expanded beyond the Fountain Square blocks a decade after the mixed-use center first opened for business. Around the year 2000, two office towers named Freedom Square delivered. These buildings were the tallest in Reston for years before the neighboring Midtown residential buildings came up five years later.
As of now, One Freedom Square no longer has an anchor tenant, although a few companies, such as law firm Cooley LLP and IT contractor CompQsoft, still maintain offices there. However, the building has the largest available contiguous office space in Reston Town Center, so it probably will not be long before another corporate logo graces the face of its penthouse once more.
