The Denizen apartments in Alexandria opened in late 2019. The property was previously occupied by an industrial complex adjacent to Alexandria’s Metro Rail Yard. Construction began in 2017 on the 21-story building, along with the neighboring Eisenhower Square townhomes from Toll Brothers, which recently sold out. Denizen is the tallest building in the vicinity and anchors the Eisenhower avenue neighborhood in the west.
Denizen and Eisenhower Square are on one of the last available lots in Alexandria west of Telegraph Road and south of the Metro tracks. Existing development in the neighborhood consisted of garden-style multifamily buildings, midrise hotels and office, and some municipal buildings. Across busy Telegraph road, Eisenhower Avenue connects to the rapidly-developing Carlyle neighborhood, which next year will welcome a new mixed-use development anchored by a Wegmans supermarket.
